TRANS~PARENTING                Register for the Seminar

   A Seminar for Divorcing Parents

This seminar is specifically designed and certified for parties needing to fulfill their requirement for attending an approved divorcing parents class in Douglas, Haralson, Paulding and Polk counties.  Attendance is required for all parties involved in divorce, separate maintenance, legitimation, paternity, change of custody, change in visitation and any other domestic relations actions where children under the age of eighteen (18) are involved.

Trans~Parenting is a four-hour, interactive experience that focuses on how effective parenting during this time of transition can lessen the negative impact of divorce and parental separation on children.  While focusing on a Co-Parenting approach, trained instructors use a multi-media format that teaches parents how to best lead their changing families to a successful and positive outcome.

As an added resource, each parent attending the seminar receives a Parent Handbook which outlines and expands upon seminar content.  Many others, including concerned family members and professionals working with parents and children, find the handbook useful.

Each year in the United States, more than 1 million children experience the divorce of their parents.  Spanning diverse cultural, racial, and socio-economic lines, the effects of divorce are far reaching.  Empowering through education, Trans~Parenting helps move families through transition and leads them on the road to rediscovery.

Goals

  • To emphasize the importance for parents to put their children's needs first both during and after the divorce.
  • To provide parents with practical information and skills which will help them support their children's emotional well-being during and after the transition of divorce.
  • To create a better understanding of how conflict between parents creates stress for children and ways to decrease conflict.
  • To encourage cooperation in co-parenting to support continued and meaningful relationships with both parents.
